  • Low-Temperature Perimeter Heating Solutions – PTP 5200

    Engineering Class

Date option 1. As energy codes evolve and electrification becomes a central strategy for decarbonizing buildings, designers and engineers face new challenges in maintaining occupant comfort — especially along perimeter zones. This presentation explores the design challenges with traditional solutions due to the impact of lower hot water temperatures driven by modern energy codes. We’ll dive into the performance and design considerations of trench convectors and natural convection wall heaters, examining how these systems respond to reduced water temperatures and what strategies can be employed to optimize their effectiveness. Attendees will gain insights into balancing energy efficiency with thermal comfort and learn practical approaches for integrating low-temperature heating solutions in high-performance building envelopes.
